MIIT: Accelerate the formulation and implementation of a work plan to stabilize growth in the automotive industry.

On July 19, Zhao Zhiguo, spokesperson and chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), announced at a press conference that the ministry will accelerate the implementation of policies aimed at boosting consumption in sectors such as automobiles and home furnishings. Additionally, MIIT is stepping up efforts to formulate and roll out action plans designed to stabilize growth across 10 key industries, including the automotive sector. The ministry will also expedite the development of emerging industries like 5G technology, intelligent connected vehicles, new energy, advanced materials, biopharmaceuticals, and cutting-edge medical equipment, further strengthening momentum in areas such as high-speed railways, power equipment, new-energy vehicles, photovoltaics, and telecommunications devices. Meanwhile, Tao Qing, spokesperson for MIIT and Director-General of the Bureau of Operation Monitoring and Coordination, stated that the ministry is working on drafting management measures for the recycling and reuse of power batteries used in new-energy vehicles, with the goal of continuously improving the industry's recycling framework.

Weekly Retail Trends of the National Passenger Vehicle Market in the Third Week of July

Passenger vehicles: From July 1 to 16, retail sales in the passenger car market reached 686,000 units, representing a 0% year-on-year increase compared to the same period last year, but a 4% decline from the previous month. Year-to-date retail sales total 10.21 million units, up 3% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, passenger car manufacturers nationwide shipped 726,000 units via wholesale channels, marking a 1% rise compared to the same period last year, yet a 4% drop from the previous month. Cumulative wholesale volume since the beginning of the year stands at 11.794 million units, reflecting an 8% growth over the same period last year.

In the third week of July 2023 (July 10–16), new energy vehicle sales reached 137,000 units, representing a 15% increase from the previous week. This week, only BYD recorded sales exceeding 10,000 units, while Tesla and GAC Aion each surpassed 9,000 units. Together, these three companies accounted for 47.1% of total sales.

HiPhi Y launched, priced from 339,000 to 449,000 yuan

On July 15, the HiPhi Y from HiPhi officially launched, offering four trims: the 560km Pioneer Edition at RMB 339,000, the 560km Elite Edition at RMB 369,000, the 810km Long-Range Edition at RMB 399,000, and the 765km Flagship Edition at RMB 449,000.

In terms of intelligent driver-assistance systems, the higher-spec models are equipped with 32 perception hardware components, including 1 LiDAR, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, 3 front-facing cameras, 1 rear-facing camera, 4 side-view cameras, 4 surround-view cameras, 1 DMS camera, and 1 steering-wheel detection sensor. The driving-assist system is powered by a single NVIDIA Orin X chip, while the parking assist function relies on a Texas Instruments TDA4 chip.

On July 18, Li Auto officially announced that, as of July 15, the brand’s L-series models (including the L7, L8, and L9) have collectively surpassed 200,000 units in cumulative deliveries.

Li Auto continues to rank among the top five luxury brands in China's market. As of July 16, Li Auto’s sales this month have already reached 16,900 vehicles, propelling it into the top four luxury brands in China—and surpassing all other luxury brands outside the BBA segment.

Tesla: First MPV Revealed, Price Range Expected to Be Between 350,000 and 500,000 RMB

Media has revealed Tesla's first-ever multi-purpose MPV model, further expanding the brand's lineup beyond the Model 3, Y, S, X, Cybertruck, and Roadster. Reportedly, the new vehicle is set to make its official market debut in 2024 or 2025.

The first MPV is expected to feature a spacious and comfortable interior, offering versatile seating arrangements tailored for both family and business needs. The overall design may closely resemble that of the new Model 3. Mobileye Unveils First Pure-Vision Intelligent Speed Assistance System

On July 18, Mobileye officially announced the launch of the world's first automotive-grade, vision-only Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) system solution.

Mobileye developed this new software feature based on the EyeQ platform and has already been approved for use in the 27 EU countries, as well as in Israel, Norway, Switzerland, and Turkey.

The ISA system, powered by EyeQ4 and EyeQ6 chips, enables automakers already equipped with these chips in their vehicles to comply with the new EU regulations simply by updating the existing EyeQ software—without requiring any additional hardware upgrades.
