On February 16, Gong Zhenzhi, Deputy Director-General of the Industry Development Department at the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), stated that the NDRC, together with relevant departments, will focus on enhancing the resilience and security of industrial and supply chains. They will also deepen the implementation of major projects aimed at tackling critical technological challenges, driving the manufacturing sector toward high-end, intelligent, and green development. Additionally, efforts will be made to further optimize the spatial layout of key productive forces, including petrochemicals and new-energy vehicles.

1. Second-week passenger car sales in February
In the second week of February 2023, new energy vehicle sales reached 86,000 units, averaging 12,000 units per day—up 73.4% year-on-year. Meanwhile, cumulative sales for the month increased by only 16.6% compared to the same period last year. During the same period, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles surged to 30.3%, rising 4 percentage points from the previous week and marking a 13.09% increase compared to February of last year. This figure also exceeded the average penetration rate for the entire last year.
Last week, sales of new-energy pure-electric vehicles reached 59,800 units, averaging 8,500 units per day—up 61.6% year-on-year. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid vehicle sales totaled 20,800 units, nearly doubling compared to the same period last year, while range-extended models accounted for 5,300 units.
2. Geely's mid-to-high-end new energy series is officially named "Geely Galaxy."
On February 16, Geely announced that its new mid-to-high-end new energy series has been officially named "Geely Galaxy," and revealed that the company will officially unveil its "Geely Brand New Energy Strategy" on February 23 at the main venue of the Hangzhou Asian Games. The series' first smart electric vehicle model will also make its global debut at the event.
It is reported that the product will feature a completely new design, along with advanced three-electric systems and intelligent technologies. Its positioning is expected to sit between Geometric and Zeekr brands, targeting the 200,000-300,000 yuan price segment.
3. Jidu Officially Announces Integration of Wenxin Yiyan—ChatGPT-like Technology to Power Its Vehicles
On February 14, Jidu held the "ROBOVERSE Sanlitun Experience Center Launch Event" in Beijing. Jidu's automotive robot will integrate Baidu's Wenxin Yiyan's comprehensive capabilities to create the world's first large-scale AI interaction experience specifically tailored for smart car scenarios, enabling the automotive robot to achieve natural conversational abilities. This also marks the first time ChatGPT-like technology has been applied to a smart car product globally.
In terms of intelligent driver-assistance systems, the vehicle is equipped with 31 perception sensors (excluding the four millimeter-wave radars used for electric doors) and features two Orin X chips delivering a total computing power of 508 TOPS. Once delivered, the car will immediately be ready for city-level navigation-assisted driving capabilities.

1. Four Dimensions Map: Signs Autonomous Driving Map Licensing Agreement with BMW
On February 13, Four Dimensions Technology (Fourvi) signed a licensing agreement with BMW Group to provide the latter with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) maps, HD (High-Definition) maps, and LBS (Location-Based Services) products and services for BMW's next-generation autonomous driving features in the Chinese market. It is reported that the specific value of the order will depend on the number of BMW-branded vehicles equipped with advanced-level autonomous driving capabilities in China.
The two companies have formed a strategic partnership, which will not only help BMW accelerate the mass production and deployment of advanced autonomous driving features but also, through key automotive industry orders, is expected to drive more projects for Four Dimensions Map.
