Smartlead Technology & TriEye Joint Roadshow: Cutting-Edge SWIR Imaging Technology

From June 4 to 7, 2024, Sunny Optical Intelligent Technology joined forces with TriEye to host a four-day joint technical exchange event in China, focusing on "Key Applications of SWIR (Short-Wave Infrared) Sensing in Automotive Vision Systems." The teams from Sunny Optical Intelligent Technology and TriEye collaborated with R&D teams from automotive companies, engaging in hands-on vehicle-based demo drives and brainstorming sessions to explore cutting-edge product technologies.


From June 4 to 7, 2024, Sunny Optical Intelligent Technology joined forces with TriEye for a four-day joint technical exchange event in China, themed "Key Applications of SWIR (Short-Wave Infrared) Sensing in Automotive Vision Systems." The teams from Sunny Optical Intelligent Technology and TriEye collaborated with automotive OEM R&D teams, engaging in hands-on vehicle-based demo drives and brainstorming sessions to explore cutting-edge product technologies. During this roadshow, the Sunny Optical & TriEye team provided customers with an introduction to the fundamental principles of gated cameras and the unique physical characteristics of the SWIR wavelength range, followed by an in-depth discussion on potential application scenarios. Meanwhile, TriEye’s representatives offered a detailed overview of the complete product architecture and engaged in targeted conversations with clients, highlighting the distinct advantages of their SWIR sensors compared to other sensing technologies—and how these solutions can address specific industry pain points.

 

Through an in-depth technical analysis and real-vehicle demo, the product showcased its all-weather operational capabilities and superior perception abilities under both day-and-night conditions as well as rainy and foggy weather. Trieye's product technology has been recognized by the interviewed customers, highlighting its promising potential for application in higher-level intelligent driving systems. Meanwhile, both parties are looking forward to future collaboration opportunities.

 

 

This SWIR sensing system, built on the foundation of short-wave infrared technology, delivers rich depth information and image data. Meanwhile, with the support of advanced spectral enhancement detection and ranging techniques, the sensing system extends beyond 2D imaging by incorporating Z-axis depth information, enabling machine vision to capture comprehensive 3D environmental data.

 

Short-wave infrared imaging, combined with high-resolution depth information, offers complementary spatial perception capabilities that enhance those of visible-light cameras. Moreover, compared to conventional near-infrared spectroscopy, SWIR sensing systems not only provide a significantly higher eye-safe threshold but also exhibit remarkable robustness against sunlight and other environmental noise sources. As a result, SWIR-based sensing systems deliver superior detection accuracy and extend the operational range far beyond what was previously achievable with near-infrared systems.

 

This roadshow served as a bridge among the three parties, opening up new perspectives and fostering a shared vision for the future. Not only did it provide a platform to witness the outstanding performance and strategic development of cutting-edge products and technologies, but the exchange of ideas during the event also sparked fresh inspiration.
